Antrodia camphorata is very precious in the Taiwanese herbal market. The potential health promoting and disease preventive effect of Antrodia camphorata is emphasized in Taiwanese folk medicine. Considering the chronic uses, it is necessary that 28-day’s toxicological investigation are carried out with Antrodia camphorata to determine its safety at normal dose and the probable hematological and biochemical disturbance occurring after intoxication. This information can be help in planning treatment of Antrodia camphorata poisoning. Limited information is available on health promoting activity of Antrodia camphorata. Except 28-day’s toxicological studies, we simultaneously examine the antioxidant activity (in vivo) and ameliorating of gastrointestinal function of Antrodia camphorata in the first year. In the second year, we investigate the immunostimulating, anti-allergy and anti-hypertension of Antrodia camphorata. These results can supply the scientific evidence for Antrodia camphorata.
