Proportion of the elderly people in Taiwan increases gradually. The disabled elderly are prone to bedsore, aspiration pneumonia, urinary tract infection etc. and malnutritrion makes these situations worse. The greater medical expenditure will be required as well. Therefore, prevention and management of malnutrition in the elderly become an important issue in aged care, especially in people living in the long-term care units. In this study, a comprehensive,hospital-based care,including the involement of physicians, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, for the eldrly in long-term care units will be performed. People with the periodical evaluation and intervention of program will be the experimental group(intensive care, IC), and the control group will receive usual care(UC) as before. The differences of malnutrition incidences between the two groups will be compared, as well as the medical costs.
