People treat and prevent diseases primarily according the carrying experiences until the medical education and clinical system were completed in Taiwan; therefore the medical manuscripts are the most reliable texts to explore the medical experiences and knowledge of the early years in Taiwan. The collected medical manuscripts are mostly from descendants of the martial institute and passed doctors. The practical and literature values of those medical contents are not less than the published medical books. Because the medical archives of the early century in Taiwan are little and not preserved officially, the vanishing is inevitable with the changing folk culture and the fading aged medical performers. It is desperately urgent to preserve these medical manuscripts. The goal of this plan is to promote the disclosure and the preserving of these treasure manuscripts and further to build the digital archive base and it will be great an academic resource for the related research fields. The achievement of this plan will be the priceless texts of researches of medical history, disease history and social history from the early 16th centaury to the late 19th centaury, and furthermore the content of recorded symptoms, diseases and clinical experiences will be the wonderful materials for the study of evidenced-based medicine.
