Abstract
Purpose:
The objective of this research is to investigate characteristics of the hospital volunteer base, which includes their basic backgrounds (sex, age, education), and their computer and internet knowledge, computer usage time, views on importance of website contents and design, exclusive specialized contents, and associated satisfactory levels, and website usability and ease of use.
Methodology and Source of Data:
The research data comes from volunteers in a medical research center in central Taiwan. A total of 97 people conducted our survey. The survey is mainly adopted from the website quality measurement questionnaire by Aladwani and Palvia (2002), and Original Survey of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by David (1989), with modifications.
Results:
In bivariate analysis, it was found 1.Differnt attitudes on the exclusive specialized contents of a website lead to significant difference on the satisfactory level of the website contents(P<0.001), 2.Differnt age groups(P<0.01), education levels (P<0.001), Internet usage (P<0.05), and computer usage (P<0.05) have significant different satisfactory level on the exclusive specialized contents of a website(P<0.05), 3.Different sexes, age groups, education levels, Internet usage, and computer usage have significant difference on the views of the usability of a website (P<0.001), 4. Different sexes, age groups, education levels, views of the importance of website design, Internet usage, and computer usage have significant different opinions on the ease of use of a website.
The multivariate analysis found: 1. Views on the importance of uniqueness of volunteer website contents effected the satisfactory level on website content significantly (P<0.01), 2. Views on the importance of exclusive specialized contents of the volunteer website effected the satisfactory level on the exclusive specialized contents of the website significantly (P<0.05), 3. Education level significantly affected the opinions on the ease of use of the website, 4. Attitudes on the importance of website design significantly affected the opinions on the ease of use of the website.
