Since Ming and Qing dynasties, Seven Pinches Powder has always been the commonly used formula to quicken the blood and transform stasis and relieve pains in clinical traumatology and it is a set formula that is quite popular among the mass public. In modern society, the above-mentioned fact has been recorded in the Pharmacopoeia of People's Republic of China. Shaolin traumatology literatures have recorded many prescriptions from the mass public, including Seven Pinches Powder with various compositions.
Regarding the formula recorded in Shaolin traumatology literatures, most of them only recorded the formula composition, indication and method of administration; few of them talked about the medical effects and the analysis of formula. Taking Seven Pinches Powder recorded in Shaolin traumatology literatures of Shang Ke Ji Cheng as the research object; this study adopts this composed formula as the key subject and analyzes the meaning of this prescription's formulation.
This study subtracts records of Seven Pinches Powder from Shaolin traumatology literatures, statically computes the medicinal material used in this formula, including the frequency and the proportion of medicinal material used in the formula, and makes classifications based on its nature. With the help of the theoretical pharmacognosy sourcing from Ming and Qing Dynasties, this study makes use of the indication, effects and other relevant data of medicinal material of this formula to conduct analysis and discourse for Seven Pinches Powder.
Seven Pinches Powder is the formula named in accordance with the amount of dose. Generally speaking, it is suggested that patients should take this prescription seven pinches each time because much of its materials contain acridity and aroma components, which help move qi and quicken the blood.
