With the growing popularity of Traditional Chinese medicines (TCM) in clinical uses, their safety and toxicity may be gradually concerned about. Many adverse effects of TCM are reported, often because of errors caused by the use of TCM. Therefore, the TCM research and pharmaco- epidemiology of active surveillance provide effective safety information. Aim of the study-We wish to provides safe effective medicine to the outpatient service of the traditional Chinese medicine and reduces their serious untoward effect of using TCM by this research! We guaranteed that the patient uses the traditional Chinese medicine more safe. So it might enhance the better outcome of treatment. So clinical pharmay care system of TCM will become more complete and safe. Methods - We have visited 36 Chinese medicine hospitals to check their outpatient service and the environmental safety appraisal mechanism. We have held four expert symposia in past months this year. Besides, we have held many clinical safe issue about traditional Chinese medicine conference in Taiwan. As well as we carried on hepatotoxicity pharmacoepidemiology of the traditional Chinese medicine by using the national health insurance research database. Results and discussion - The zero notification numbers of Adverse Drug Report (ADR) about TCM reaches as unexpectedly high to 25% hospitals every year in Taiwan. Nearly 60% hospitals had not used barcode to fill TCM prescriptions. Moreover, most Dr didn’t consider the prepared Fuzi as poisonous potent drug in many of hospital. We suggested the combinatory use of cardiovascular TCM and western drugs might be involved in the alert computer system. We found who took the hepatotoxic TCMs that had higher incidence rate of acute hepatitis attack (35.5%) than who did not took (28.3%) by using the national health insurance research database.
