Uptake of Tc-99m M DMSA, a tumor-imaging agent developed in Japan, has been seen not only in malignant but also in benign lesions. In some inflammatory lesions, Tc-99m M DMSA has shown behavior similar to that of Ga-67. The mechanism of Tc-99m M DMSA accumulation in these lesions is not known. In the current report, the authors describe an interesting case of peritonitis that was demonstrated by Tc-99m M DMSA imaging but not on a Ga-67 scan.
