; Water convolvulus, Ipomoea aquatica Forsk., is a popular green vegetable grown in Taiwan and China. It is a delicacy in Chinese cuisine. The studies on the medicinal aspects of this plant include the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis effects and elimination of constipation . And, it has been well documented that increased eating of water convolvulus is protective against high blood pressure and nose-bleeding. Although more than 20 compounds had been isolated from this plant, further studies of the plant were limited to the aerial part and roots. As the result of the study, five compounds and one complex compounds, that including methyl linoleate (Ⅰ), oleic acid (Ⅲ), 6-methoxy-7-linoleoxycoumarin (Ⅳ), β-sitosterol-3-O-D-glucoside (Ⅴ), compound Ⅵ and methyl linoleate complexes with ethyl linoleate (Ⅱ) has been isolated and subjested to activity investigation.
