ABSTRACT Objective: This study examined the effects of Dan-Tao Qigong practice on cardiac variability and physiological parameter.Dan-Tao Qigong involves slow breathing. Methods: We conducted an age sex matched control study. Thirty-five Qigong trainees volunteered to participate in this study and were each studied during 60 minutes of Dan-Tao Qigong practice. Before and after the practice, we measured physic parameters and recorded electrocardiography. Results: Peripheral temperature significant increased and heart rate variability significantly increased within the low-frequency range but decreased in the high-frequency range while compared to control group before and after Dan-Tao qigong practice. Conclusions: Physiological and heart rate variability parameters were significantly different before and after Dan-Tao Qigong practice. From these results, we suggest which Dan-Tao Qigong practice has physiological and autonomic effects on cardiovascular system. KEY WORD: Qigong, Heart Rate Variability, Autonomic Tone?
